Hitachi new 7.0" WVGA TFT extends product line up

Hitachi Europe Ltd, Display Products Group (DPG) has announced the introduction of a new 7.0" WVGA TFT display module. The new TX18D44VM2BAA features a 15:9 wide aspect ratio, a display resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and delivers excellent optical performance in a compact and slim mechanical package.

The TX18D44VM2BAA features a uniform and bright 400cd/m² LED backlight providing a 40K hour half brightness lifetime and a contrast ratio of 400:1 which enables bright, clear images and information to be displayed. Electrically compatible with existing Hitachi WVGA TFT display modules, the TX18D44VM2BAA features an industry standard 40-pin 6-bit RGB CMOS interface which enables a colour palette of up to 262K colours.

Anybus X-gateway lets CANopen devices talk to Profinet

HMS Industrial Networks offer a fast and easy way to connect CANopen-enabled automation devices to Profinet.

The Anybus X-gateway CANopen from HMS Industrial Networks helps system integrators to connect existing CANopen networks with new Profinet installations. Typical usage is in factories, where CANopen-based machinery needs to be integrated into modern automation systems which are often based on Profinet.

The Anybus X-gateway mounts onto a standard DIN rail and is powered by 24 Volt industrial power supply. The gateway transfers data from the PLC on the Profinet side to the CANopen devices, while also transferring data from the devices on the CANopen side to the PLC on the Profinet side. The CANopen master functionality can be configured with any CANopen configuration tool or with HMS´s CCM, a flexible and easy-to-use Windows-based CANopen configuration tool which is optimized for usage with HMS´s CANopen product series. Up to 126 CANopen slaves can be connected to the gateway using a total of up to 128 receive PDOs and 128 transmit PDOs.

The X-gateway functions as an IO device on the Profinet side and is available in two versions: single port Profinet (RT) and 2-port Profinet (IRT). The IRT version complies with Profinet conformance class C including IRT (Isochronous Real Time) functions. The IRT version includes an integrated 2-port Profinet IRT switch which allows installations in line topology without the need for expensive external switches. The Profinet interface incorporates HMS long experience as an approved supplier of Profinet communication interfaces to the AIDA group of automobile manufactures. The Souriau 8D connector with integrated clinch nut allows easy fitting of aluminum sockets to electronic control boxes. It speeds up Series III connector fitting times, whilst at the same time reducing the number of fixing accessories (bolts, washers etc.) needed. It is particularly suited to boxes with difficult access and requiring maintenance, in an aeronautical or military environment.

Square sockets are traditionally held in place with screws and nuts (fig a), possibly with an anodised aluminum backplate fitted to the rear (fig b). Fitting them in this way can prove tedious where access is difficult, and can take a great deal of time. The integral clinch nut connector (fig c) can thus speed up fitting times, at the same time reducing the number of fixing accessories (bolts, washers etc.) needed. This can also reduce the risk of unwanted accessories being left unintentionally in the box if dropped accidentally.

Souriau has been able to demonstrate that its M3 or UNC4.40 clinch nuts, when fitted to the Series III flanges, can withstand an axial force of more than 130 Newtons. Torque resistance tests have also shown that the clinch nut will remain in position on the flange even when 1.5 N/m of torque is applied via an end screw.

The connector´s nickel flange, when fitted with these clinch nuts, can withstand a 48 hours salt fog in accordance with the MIL-DTL-38999 standard applicable to this type of aeronautical connector.

This type of fixing is approved for the nine series III aluminium sizes, which means that the whole of our Series III platform can be used (more than 90 layouts currently available).

Pickering Interfaces adds to range of Fault Insertion PXI Modules

Pickering Interfaces has expanded its range of over 20 PXI Fault Insertion solutions with the introduction of the 40-199. Fault Insertion (FI) modules are used within an Automatic Test System to simulate common fault conditions such as an open, short to ground or a short to other connections in a device under test.

The 40-199 provides 10 fault insertion channels that can be connected to either (or both) of two fault bus connections. Each fault insertion channel can switch up to 125VDC with powers up to 300W or 250VAC at up to 2500VA. Each channel can carry and hot switch 10A . Both fault buses are rated at 20A enabling the support of two 10A fault conditions from each one.

The 40-199 uses a switch design based around high quality electro-mechanical relays and in addition to being supported in any PXI compliant chassis, it can be supported in Pickering Interfaces Modular LXI Chassis'.

Pickering Interfaces offers the widest range of fault insertion modules available in the PXI platform, allowing users to choose the size and rating of the fault insertion channels they need from 2A to in excess of 30A.
