APRO extends its BON Series Solid State Drives (SSDs)

Taiwan's leading manufacturer of industrial-grade NAND Flash storage devices, has extended its BON Series Solid State Drives (SSDs) with the addition of a range of Parallel ATA (PATA) SSDs.

The new BON Series PATA SSDs utilise SLC (single level cell) NAND Flash technology and are available in a 2.5 inch form factor, rugged, metal-encased package in data capacities of 8, 16, 32, 64 and 128 GBytes.  All of the drives support the Fast Erase of media data that can either be hardware triggered or by software defined by ATA vendor code.  Secure Erase is also available as a custom option.

The new BON Series PATA SSDs support both PIO-4 and UDMA-6 transfer modes delivering a maximum sequential read performance of 105 MBytes/sec with an average access time of 0.2 ms and a maximum sequential write performance of 100 MBytes/sec.  The drives also provide compatibility with IDE and ATA/ATAPI-7 legacy specifications.

The new BON Series PATA SSDs utilise SLC (single level cell) NAND Flash technology.

Ruggedised for use in harsh environments and ideally suited to embedded industrial, military and aerospace applications, the BON Series PATA drives support an extended operating temperature range of -40ºC to +85ºC, vibration, shock and humidity compliance to MIL-STD-810F environmental specifications and are capable of operating up to an altitude of 70,000 feet. In addition, they provide a mean time between failure (MTBF) in excess of 3 million hours, endurance performance greater than 2 million cycles with data retention of 10 years or more.  The drives measure 69.9mm by 99.7mm by 9.5mm and weigh just 115g.

igubal high tensile rod end bearings from igus

Plastic bearing expert igus has extended the range of its dimensional series E igubal rod end bearings with the introduction of the EBRM-16 V. By inserting a steel reinforcement into its igubal rod end bearing, igus has increased the tensile load capability by up to 50% when compared to its pure plastic versions.

"With this option, igus is closing the gap between steel and plastic parts in terms of load capacity," says Matthew Aldridge of igus UK. "Able to handle tensile loads up to 15kN, designers can replace steel rod end bearings with corrosion resistant and maintenance-free igubal alternatives - clearly a more cost-effective option."

Typical examples of where igubal high tensile rod ends can be used include link arms and barriers used outside, particularly in solar power systems and facades, as well as pneumatic cylinders and drive mechanisms.

Refer the to picture above: Modern plastic with steel insert instead of steel: the new igubal rod end bearing takes tensile loads up to 15kN - cheaper alternative to stainless steel components and maintenance-free too.

Igs in profile
Based in Northampton in the UK, and with global headquarters in Cologne, Germany, igus is the largest producer of injection moulded polymer bearings and reinforced plastic cable carriers in the world. Product lines include industry-leading E-Chain cable carriers, Chainflex continuous-flex cables, iglidur plastic plain bearings, igubal spherical bearings, DryLin linear bearings and guide systems. The company has 26 subsidiaries across 31 countries and employs approximately 1,800 people worldwide.

With plastic bearing experience since 1964, cable carrier experience since 1971 and continuous-flex cable since 1989, igus provides the right solution based on 80,000 products available from stock with between 1,500 and 2,500 new products introduction each year.

Hangar Power Distribution Cubicles (PDC) provides
the benchmark for individual circuit protection for RAF

FDB Electrical, pioneers in power distribution/control are pleased to announce their FDB27 range of Hangar Power Distribution Cubicles (PDC) which has proved to be the benchmark for individual circuit protection in RAF Bases around the world. Designed in accordance with MOD and PSA specifications, the FDB27 range provides electrical protection and control for power supplies to ground support equipment in hangars, workshops and garages.

Each FDB27 unit features push button control RCD protection and ECM Earth continuity monitoring c/w shortened pilot pin sockets and plugs allowing disconnection of supply before the plug main contacts break. Voltages available are 220/240V, 380/415V @ 50/60Hz and with ratings of 16A, 32A, 63A and 125A with standard 30mA RCD. Output is by means of a fitted socket outlet to EN 60309-1 (TB03/05) complete with dedicated pilot contact, but special versions are available for supplies to emergency vehicles and to hazardous areas.

For emergency use, all units in the FDB27 range containing Earth Continuity Monitors are provided with diode polarity selectors and changeover switches to facilitate immediate power supply to portable equipment with incorrectly connected or missing diode protection.

As well as the standard combined RCD/ECM type, other versions can be supplied with choice of RCD or ECM protection only - the latter being recommended for essential supplies to radar cabins etc. The special FDB27 "Malvern" type is also available for Optronics buildings or direct supplies to technical vehicles with high levels of inherent earth leakage current due to power line filters.

IDEAL's unique combination of Digital Circuit Breaker
Finder, Non-Contact Voltage Tester and Socket Tester

IDEAL INDUSTRIES (U.K.) LTD. Recently launched a new Digital Circuit Breaker Finder and Socket Tester designed to safely and easily locate breakers and identify common wiring faults.

The Digital Circuit Breaker Finder makes locating AC circuits quicker and easier than ever before. With the dependable second-pass indication, you can be confident that you are locating the correct circuit breaker or fuse supplying power to an AC socket or
*lighting fixture without having to interrupt the circuit. The Digital Circuit Breaker Finder also features a non-contact voltage sensor mode, that senses when a voltage higher than 50V is present, beeping audibly to alert the user.

The integrated Socket Tester instantly identifies common wiring faults by verifying the wiring configuration. Wiring errors are indicated by one or more LEDs failing to light, with the pattern of lit LEDs indicating the type of fault. This failsafe socket tester system means that any LED that is not lit indicates a problem.

Tony Kumeta, European General Manager at IDEAL INDUSTRIES (U.K.) comments: "The unique combination of a Digital Circuit Breaker Finder, Non-Contact Voltage Tester and a Socket Tester in one, gives residential and commercial electricians a versatile and easy-to-use tool for troubleshooting electrical circuits saving them valuable time and money."

The Digital Circuit Breaker Finder also features auto-power off and low battery detection. The Digital Circuit Breaker Finder and Socket Tester kit includes power cord, manual and soft carrying case.
